The short version

• There are no accounts, no logins and no saved preferences on this site.
• We take no payments, so nothing here touches a payment processor.
• There is no advertising technology: no ad network, no retargeting pixel, no social tracking script, and no external JavaScript of any kind.
• Every page loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts a Google server. That is the one third party a page here contacts, and it is explained below.
• Some pages carry affiliate links to casino operators. We set nothing when you click one, but the operator you land on will set its own cookies. This is explained below and in our advertising disclosure.
• Blocking cookies will not break anything on Pokokpedia.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep and hand back on your next request. It is how a site remembers something between page loads: that you are logged in, that you chose dark mode, that you have already been counted as a visitor today.

The same page can also store data in your browser without cookies, using local storage or session storage, and can count you using nothing but the request itself. The word "cookie" is used loosely in most policies to mean all of it, and it is used that way here too.

Cookies get their reputation from advertising, where they are used to follow one person from site to site and build a profile. That is a real practice, and it is not one that happens here.

What Pokokpedia sets

The site is built as a set of static HTML files. There is no application behind them, no database, no session and no user record, so there is nothing for a functional cookie to remember about you.

Cookies set by this site: none set by this site; our host may set a security cookie such as __cf_bm to tell human visitors from bots.

Two things that would normally appear in this section are absent on purpose. There is no cookie consent banner, because there is nothing here that a consent banner would need to gate. And there is no advertising or cross-site tracking cookie of any kind: the site runs no display advertising, no ad network and no ad-tech or tracking script, and there is not one external JavaScript file on any page.

One thing does need stating precisely, because an earlier version of this page got it wrong. The site is not advertising-free in the commercial sense. Thirty-three of our pages carry paid affiliate links to casino operators, set out in full in our advertising disclosure. Those links are ordinary links: they set no cookie, run no script and do nothing in your browser until you click one. What they do is take you somewhere else, which is the subject of the next section.

What happens if you click through to an operator

An affiliate link on this site is a plain outbound link with a tracking ID in its address, marked rel="sponsored nofollow noopener". The ID identifies this site to the operator so they know which affiliate to pay. It is not an identifier for you, it is the same for every reader, and it is not used to follow you around the web.

What happens after the click is not ours and we will not pretend otherwise. Gambling operators are commercial sites with accounts, deposits and marketing behind them, and one will almost certainly set its own cookies the moment you arrive, for its own sessions and logins, for its own analytics, and for its own advertising and retargeting. It may also record that the visit came from us. All of that happens under that operator's privacy policy and cookie policy, not ours. We receive none of the data, we cannot see or delete those cookies, and we have not audited what any of these operators set.

If that matters to you, the practical answer is the same as for any commercial site: open it in a private window, use a tracker blocker, or read the operator's own cookie policy before you go further. Staying on Pokokpedia and not clicking leaves you with no cookies at all.

Google Fonts — the one third party a page contacts

Every page on this site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, at fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. This is worth stating clearly because it is the single third-party request your browser genuinely makes while reading Pokokpedia, and most cookie policies quietly leave it out.

When a page loads, your browser fetches a stylesheet and the font files directly from Google's servers. That request is made by your browser to Google, not by us on your behalf, and Google may log technical details of it (including your IP address, your browser and operating system, and the page that asked for the font) under Google's own privacy terms rather than ours. We receive none of that information back.

Google states that it does not set cookies on the font delivery domain for the purpose of serving fonts. Even so, the request itself is a contact with a third party, so it belongs in a cookie policy whether or not a cookie is involved.

If you would rather it did not happen, any extension that blocks third-party requests will stop it. The site then falls back to the typefaces already on your device and remains perfectly readable. Nothing else changes.

Analytics

We may use a website analytics tool to count visits and see which pages are read. That is aggregate information about traffic, used to decide what to write next; it is not a record of you personally, and we do not use it to build a profile or to advertise to anyone.

Analytics tool currently in use: none. Whether it sets cookies or stores an identifier: not applicable, the site runs no analytics.

Some modern analytics tools work without cookies at all, counting requests rather than following people. Where that choice exists we prefer it.

Hosting and security

Like every site, Pokokpedia is delivered by a hosting and content-delivery provider, and that provider keeps standard technical logs of the requests it serves. Providers of this kind sometimes also set a cookie for routing or bot protection, independently of anything the site itself does.

How to control cookies

Cookies belong to your browser, not to us, and every browser lets you see them, delete them and block them. The controls sit under settings, usually as "Privacy" or "Cookies and site data", in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and their mobile versions alike.

You can also:

• block third-party cookies specifically, which most browsers now do by default;
• use a private or incognito window, which discards everything when you close it;
• install a tracker blocker or a content blocker, which will also stop the Google Fonts request described above;
• clear existing cookies at any time.

On many sites, blocking cookies breaks something. Here it breaks nothing: there is no login to stay signed in to and no setting to remember, so the site behaves identically with cookies switched off entirely.

We run no cross-site tracking, so a Do Not Track signal has nothing on this site to switch off.

How this relates to our privacy policy

This page covers what is stored in or requested by your browser. Our privacy policy covers the wider question of what personal data the site handles at all, why, for how long, who else sees it, and what rights you have over it under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010.

Where the two overlap, on server logs, analytics and Google Fonts, the privacy policy is the fuller account, and we have not restated it here rather than risk two versions of the same fact drifting apart.

Changes and contact

If we add anything that sets a cookie, or change analytics provider, this page is updated and its effective date moves. Material changes are described on the page rather than slipped in.
