What Aiman is responsible for

Aiman edits everything in the poker section: how a hand is played from deal to showdown, what beats what, where you are sitting and why it matters, what the words at the table mean, and how a tournament is structured. If a poker page on this site is wrong, it is his to fix.

He works to a fixed order, and it is not the order most poker guides use. The objective of the game comes first, in the opening sentences. Then the hand rankings, because a player who misreads their own hand cannot be helped by anything else. Then the betting rounds. Only after all of that is anything allowed to be called strategy, and by then the reader can already sit down and play.

How he decides what goes on a page

The test he applies is whether a beginner could act on the page without asking a second question. That is why the hand-ranking table on this site lists the number of possible combinations next to every hand: once you can see that there are 3,744 full houses and only 36 straight flushes, the order stops being a list to memorise and starts being obvious.

When a page claims a play is better than another, he asks for the arithmetic behind it. If the reasoning cannot be shown in a sentence or two, it comes out. Poker attracts a lot of confident advice that dissolves the moment you ask why, and a reference site is exactly the wrong place for it.

He is also the person who insists the terminology page stays boring. Jargon is the main thing that keeps people out of this game, and a glossary that explains one term using three others is worse than no glossary at all.

What he does not claim

Aiman holds no qualification in poker, and neither does anyone else — there is no such thing. He has no results to point at, no sponsorship, and no professional record, and this page will never invent one. What he offers these pages is a low tolerance for writing about a card game as though the reader has already played it.
